Wine of the Week: Longridge Chenin Blanc 2023

sip

Fun fact about me: I love South Africa’s Chenin Blanc. LOVE. Love. South Africa has by far the most Chenin Blanc plantings in the world, an estimated 50% of all global plantings. And this country has really perfected the art.

Longridge is a biodynamic wine farm, which means from the roots of the vines to the owls in the trees, they seek to cultivate a thriving ecosystem for all life on the estate. No pesticides, herbicides or other icky chemicals. The crunchy granola wino in me is always delighted by producers that center the vines and the land holistically.

I was introduced to this wine by Eben, the sommelier at COY, a new restaurant in the Waterfront in Cape Town. I will always love elevated dining experiences that introduce me to new wines. Razzle me! Dazzle me!

Let’s get into the wine:

Looks like: pale, bright, liquid gold.

Smells like: “refreshing” in wine form. Pineapple, kiwi, a long awaited and much needed island vacation.

Tastes like: eating a tropical fruit salad in a hammock on the beach (adorable cabana boy not included)

Give it a try, let me know how much you love it! Cheers <3
